I was going to try to write an amazingly profound "I'm back post" but then I realized that I have no idea what that would actually entail. So instead I am going just get in there and let you know a little about myself.
I am a huge nerd, as can be seen from the quote above, and always have been. I can even prove it with photographic evidence (courtesy of yesterday's Halloween edition of #tbt on Facebook and Twitter).
That's me in third grade, dressed as one of my favorite sci fi characters, Norby the Mixed-Up Robot from the children's series by Isaac and Janet Asimov. Let's just say, not everyone knew who I was that year, but I was super happy. (Also, that hat did not stay on my head easily, so I spent a lot of time chasing it down, making me even more popular.)
I turned my nerdiness/geekiness into a love of school and learning (which might explain why I later became a teacher, at least that's the story I'm going to go with) and eventually focused in on science, even taking extra science classes for my electives in high school.
Some of my students have asked me why I love science so much. That to me, is a question that has an easy answer - it explains things. In addition to being the nerdy kid, I was also the kid that was always asking questions (I'm really starting to see that whole teacher's pet thing that I had going on). I always wanted to know more, especially the why and how of things, and science answers that.
Anyway, my plan is to have a one stop place to keep up to date with new science information, activities, and explanations of the science behind, and even some possible debunking of Pinterest projects. Pretty much a place for science fun, not just boring classroom stuff (because that's not me at all).
